Continuous Improvement - Becoming a Better
and Better YOU
Welcome! I'm Arline Oliphint, and
"continuous improvement is my way of life". Maybe you would
like that to be your motto, too.
We always have areas where we're not as strong as we would like to be,
such as relationships. Most of us could stand to improve our
communication skills, for example, such as learning to listen
better. That is often a big part of improving our
relationships with friends and family.
Self improvement, or personal development, is about becoming an
increasingly better version of yourself. Sometimes this can
involve making radical changes;
other times the improvements are more gradual, and less obvious to
others. But big or small, these changes take place deep
inside of you. They are life-changing! YOU will
know you're becoming a better person. You'll experience more
self-confidence as you move forward in this journey. You'll
no doubt be happier, more relaxed, more sure of yourself.
Before long, others can't help noticing you are changing for the better.
You Can
Do This!
Don't be discouraged if you've tried self improvement in the past, and
didn't follow through. Or maybe you've been procrastinating
about even getting started in the first place. Maybe you want
to change so many areas of your life that you don't really know where
to start.... so you haven't started doing anything. (Don't
feel bad... I've been there, too!)
Well, getting started is obviously the first step. But that's
the hardest step to take, isn't it? I want to encourage you,
that yes, you can do this!
You can learn new success habits. You can get rid of bad
habits. You can set goals and achieve them. You can
be a better parent, friend, lover, teacher, employee, boss.... whatever
you need to be better at doing! I hope you will find helpful
advice as well as inspiration in this website.
Once you have decided where to start, then just get started.
After that, just stick to your plan and keep making steady
progress. Now, that doesn't sound too hard, does
it? Remember the tortoise and the hare. If you just
keep moving in the right direction, you'll reach the goal.
And it gets easier as you go along! There's a quote pinned to
my bulletin board that has helped me over the past eight or ten
years. I don't know who said it, but it goes like this:
"It's
difficult to turn the wheels of a parked car. But get it
moving and you can guide it with just a touch. Whatever your
dream, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic and
power-steering in it. Release
your brakes."
Isn't that awesome?
Design
your own step-by-step plan.
This website is here for two main purposes. First, I want to
inspire and motivate you to take action toward fulfilling your
dreams. You can
be a better you!
Secondly, this website will help you in designing your very own
personal development plan.
Now, why didn't I just hand you a ready-made plan? Because,
only YOU can know what areas of your life you want to
improve. Only You can determine what skills you need to be
better at doing, and decide which area you want to start improving
first. Everyone is different. There is no
"one-size-fits-all" personal development plan. What works
best for someone else might not be the best method for you.
So, you will need to determine your own self improvement goals, and
decide how you will reach them. When you have made your own,
custom-designed plan JUST FOR YOU, then it will be much easier for you
to follow through in reaching your goals. The resources on
this site can guide you in developing and implementing your self
improvement plan.
